Henry M. Parchen was born in Prussia on June 13, 1839, the youngest of four children of George and Mary Parchen. When Henry was nine, the family emigrated to the United States, first settling near Buffalo, New York. After attending business college in Buffalo, Henry moved first to Indiana in 1857 and then to Ohio in 1858. In 1862 he moved to Colorado, where he was a bookkeeper for a hotel in Denver, and then managed a hotel in Central City. Parchen traveled to Virginia City, Montana...

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
